The FCT Police Command has urged residents of the Federal Capital Territory to take responsibility for maintaining peace and shun electoral violence ahead of the 2027 general election.
The Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Sanusi, made the call on Wednesday during a community engagement held as part of activities marking National Police Day 2026.
He emphasized that security is a shared responsibility, noting that every citizen has a role to play in keeping the nation safe.
Sanusi also called on parents and guardians to guide and mentor their children, encouraging them to stay away from crime and embrace positive values.
In an interview with journalists, the Inspector General of Police, represented by AIG Akor Gabriel, called for more community engagement with community leaders and citizens.
