The suspects, identified as David Francis (22) and Emmanuel Ibenni, popularly known as “Markfish” (36), were apprehended on March 8, 2026, at Sambec Hotel in Mararaba, Nasarawa State.

The operation was carried out by the Force Intelligence Department Special Tactical Squad (FID-STS) following credible and actionable intelligence.

According to a statement issued on Friday by the Force Public Relations Officer, Anthony Placid, the suspects are believed to be key members of a criminal network that disguises as commercial transport operators to prey on unsuspecting passengers.

He said preliminary investigations revealed that the syndicate typically lures victims into vehicles under the pretext of offering transport services, only to rob and assault them.

The group has been linked to multiple cases involving abduction and the theft of cash, mobile phones, and other valuables.

Police sources further disclosed that several victims have suffered serious injuries during such encounters, while others were reportedly killed by the gang.

Authorities say a number of victims have already identified the suspects, providing valuable information to aid ongoing investigations.

The police added that efforts are ongoing to track down and apprehend other members of the syndicate who remain at large.

Reiterating its commitment to safeguarding lives and property, the Nigeria Police Force assured the public of sustained operations aimed at dismantling criminal networks and curbing violent crimes nationwide.
