The Adamawa State Police Command has tightened security across Yola ahead of Vice President Kashim Shettima’s condolence visit to the family of the late Bamanga Tukur.
The command has deployed personnel and operational assets to strategic locations in the state capital and other parts of Adamawa.
In a statement by Police spokesman, SP Suleiman Nguroje, the Commissioner of Police, CP Kabir Hassan, ordered the deployment to ensure a smooth visit.
It notes that the command has mobilised personnel from the Police Mobile Force, Counter Terrorism Unit, Anti-Kidnapping Unit, Intelligence and Traffic units, as well as Divisional Police Officers.
The command urged residents to cooperate with security personnel and obey the law.
It also warn against activities that could disrupt the visit and urged residents to report suspicious persons or movements to the nearest police station or through the command’s emergency lines.
The police said the measures would help protect lives and property and maintain public order during the Vice President’s visit.
