Police in Ogun State have uncovered an alleged baby factory in Abaren Village, Mowe, rescuing two pregnant women and four children and arresting six suspects.
The operation was carried out on August 24 following intelligence on alleged human trafficking and illegal adoption activities at the facility.
Among those rescued were two women aged 23 and 20, who were seven and eight months pregnant respectively.
Police also traced another victim, 26-year-old Blessing Bright Effiong, to a hospital in the Mowe area after she gave birth to a baby boy on August 20.
However, the newborn was missing, prompting the arrest of the attending nurse.
The police said the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Eleweran, Abeokuta, to locate the missing baby and investigate the full activities of the suspected syndicate.
The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, commended the officers and urged residents to continue providing credible information to help combat human trafficking and child exploitation.
