Presidency Denies Reports of Change in Chief of Staff

By Chinedu Echianu

The Presidency has dismissed as false reports circulating on social media claiming that President Bola Tinubu has replaced his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, with the Principal Private Secretary, Hakeem Muri-Okunola.

In a statement issued on Thursday by Presidential spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, the Presidency describes the claim as a fabrication and urged Nigerians to disregard it entirely.

It clarifies that there has been no change in the status of either official.

According to the statement, Gbajabiamila remains the Chief of Staff to the President, while Muri-Okunola continues to serve in his role as Principal Private Secretary.

The Presidency stressed that Muri-Okunola has not been appointed to replace Gbajabiamila.

The statement further accused those behind the report of deliberately spreading false information aimed at creating disunity within the government.

The Presidency also called on media organisations and social media users to always verify information before publishing or sharing, warning against the dangers of fake news.
