The Police Service Commission (PSC) has dismissed reports announcing a medical screening exercise for police recruitment candidates as fake.
In a statement on Friday signed by the Head of Protocol and Public Relations, Torty Kalu, the commission says the purported notice about a medical screening scheduled for July 16 to 22, 2026, and the activation of a portal for printing medical slips on July 14, was not issued by the PSC.
The commission also rejected claims in the fake document referencing a supposed “State Police Act 2026” and postings of recruits to their states of origin, describing the publication as the work of fraudsters.
The PSC said it held a stakeholders’ meeting on Thursday, July 9, involving officials from the commission, the Nigeria Police Force, the Federal Character Commission and the Ministry of Police Affairs to discuss the next phase of the recruitment exercise.
According to the commission, an official statement on the outcome of the meeting and further recruitment steps will be released in due course.
The PSC urged candidates and members of the public to rely only on information shared through its verified platforms, including its official website and recruitment portal.
The commission also warned that recruitment into the Nigeria Police Force remains free and cautioned applicants against paying money to anyone claiming to represent the process.
It added that anyone involved in spreading fake notices or engaging in fraudulent activities would face legal action.
