The House of Representatives has dissolved all its ad hoc committees after they exceeded the time allotted for their assignments.
The dissolution took effect on August 28, 2026, according to a notice signed by the Clerk of the House, Sidi Ibrahim.
The House had earlier directed the committees to conclude their assignments and submit their reports within the approved timeframe.
However, the Clerk said only two committees requested and received extensions, adding that the two-week extensions had since expired.
He said ad hoc committees were created for specific and time-bound assignments and could not continue beyond their approved mandates.
The House has consequently ordered all activities being carried out in the name of the dissolved committees to stop immediately.
Chairmen of the affected committees were also directed to submit outstanding reports, working documents and other records to the Office of the Clerk for safekeeping.
The directive was issued on behalf of the Speaker, Abbas Tajudeen.
