Vice President Kashim Shettima has arrived in Dutse, the Jigawa State capital, to participate in the 2026 Jigawa Investment Summit holding from July 1 to July 2.
Shettima was received at the Nuhu Muhammad Sunusi International Airport by Governor Umar Namadi, Deputy Governor Aminu Gumel, Kano State Deputy Governor Murtala Garo and other top government officials.
The Vice President is expected to officially declare the summit open. The event is themed “Unlocking Opportunities: Driving Sustainable Growth for a Better Jigawa.”
The summit aims to showcase Jigawa State’s economic potential to local and international investors while promoting investment, economic growth and job creation.
As Special Guest of Honour, Shettima is expected to lead discussions with policymakers, development partners, business leaders and financial institutions on investment opportunities across key sectors of the state’s economy.
Jigawa State Commissioner for Information, Sagir Musa, said the summit will focus on agriculture, renewable energy, micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), light manufacturing, education and healthcare.
According to him, the state government is seeking to attract investments that will drive agricultural transformation, expand renewable energy projects and strengthen public-private partnerships in critical sectors.
Musa noted that Jigawa’s peaceful business environment, fertile agricultural land, growing infrastructure and youthful population make it an attractive destination for investors.
