The Organised labour in Sokoto State, comprising the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress has endorsed Ahmed Aliyu for a second term in 2027.

The endorsement was announced on Friday during the International Workers’ Day in Sokoto.

The state chairman of the NLC, Abdullahi Jungle, said the decision was based on the administration’s worker-friendly policies.

He cited the implementation of the N70,000 national minimum wage and the regular payment of salaries and pensions as key achievements.

Speaking on behalf of both unions, Jungle commended the government for improved welfare and consistency in salary payments.

He said the administration’s performance justified labour’s decision to support continuity in 2027.

The unions also presented the governor with an Award of Excellence, describing it as the first of its kind in the state. Jungle noted that it was the first time the NLC and TUC jointly conferred such recognition on any governor in Sokoto.

Responding, the governor, represented by his deputy, Idris Gobir, expressed appreciation for the endorsement.

He assured that the administration would sustain efforts to improve workers’ welfare, while the Head of Service, Abdulkadir Ahmed, urged workers to remain dedicated and professional.
