The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has named Paul Edeh, the Chairman of the Benue State Football Association (BSFA), as one of the distinguished recipients of its prestigious National Merit Award of Recognition.

The move is in honour of what described as his remarkable contributions to sports development and humanitarian service in Nigeria.

According to an official statement issued by the SWAN @60 Media and Publicity Committee, and signed by Chimezie Anaso (Chairman) and Hembadoon Orsar (Secretary), the honour forms part of activities marking the Association’s 60th anniversary.

The celebration is scheduled to hold at the MKO Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, from October 29 to 31.

Edeh’s nomination, endorsed by Ikenna Okonkwo, Secretary-General of SWAN, recognizes his commitment to advancing sports—particularly grassroots and women’s football—as well as his broader impact on the wellbeing of humanity.

“We thank you for making Nigeria proud through sports, and we hope this gesture will inspire you to continue your selfless service to the nation.” the statement read.
