President Bola Tinubu has declared that no district in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) will be left behind in his administration’s infrastructure drive, saying development is now reaching both the city centre and satellite communities.
The President made the declaration on Wednesday while applauding the performance of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, stating that residents across the territory are beginning to experience the tangible benefits of government projects through improved roads and other public infrastructure.
Represented by Senate President Godswill Akpabio at the inauguration of the newly completed Akinwumi Ajibola Street in Gaduwa District, Tinubu said his administration is focused on completing projects that directly improve the daily lives of Nigerians rather than leaving them abandoned.
He noted that residents of Gaduwa had endured years of hardship because access roads to their homes were impassable, especially during the rainy season, but said the completed road has now improved mobility, reduced travel time, enhanced property values and provided safer access through modern drainage and street lighting.
Tinubu commended Wike for changing what he described as Abuja’s project delivery culture by ensuring proper funding, close supervision and timely completion of infrastructure projects. He added that public funds must continue to translate into visible benefits for citizens across every district of the FCT.
Speaking at the event, Wike said the project forms part of the administration’s ongoing infrastructure programme marking Tinubu’s third year in office. He explained that the President had directed from the outset that development should not be concentrated in Abuja’s city centre alone but extended to every district and satellite community.
The minister said projects have now been delivered in several districts, including Jahi, Gwarimpa, Katampe, Guzape, Kwali and Gaduwa, attributing the pace of execution to strong collaboration between the Executive and the National Assembly, which has ensured timely budget approvals and releases.
Minister of State for the FCT, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, described the road project as another milestone in the implementation of the Renewed Hope Agenda, saying the administration remains committed to expanding infrastructure that promotes mobility, economic growth and better living conditions for residents across the territory.
