Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have foiled an attempted terrorist infiltration on a military base and safely evacuated 21 female students following intelligence about a planned attack in Borno State.
According to operational reports released on Monday, troops also arrested a suspected cross-border kidnapper linked to a kidnapping syndicate operating between Nigeria and Cameroon.
Troops of the 3 Battalion at the Forward Operating Base, Logomani, detected suspected ISWAP/JAS terrorists attempting to surround their position through CCTV surveillance.
The soldiers immediately engaged the terrorists, forcing them to retreat before they could carry out the planned attack.
In a separate operation, troops of Sector 3 acted on intelligence that seven suspected ISWAP/JAS terrorists carrying improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were sighted near the Water Board IDP Camp in Monguno.
The troops quickly evacuated 21 female students staying nearby to Kinnasara Barracks for safety.
Three students suffered seizures during the evacuation but received treatment at a hospital and were stabilised. Security around the area was also strengthened.
Elsewhere, troops of the 115 Task Force Battalion, supported by local hunters, engaged terrorists at Surajo village in Askira Uba Local Government Area. The terrorists fled, abandoning three bicycles and two coolers.
In Adamawa State, troops of the 247 Reconnaissance Battalion, working with local hunters, arrested a suspected kidnapper at Gaya in Mubi South Local Government Area.
The suspect reportedly confessed to belonging to a kidnapping syndicate based in Solere Forest in Cameroon that crosses into Nigeria to carry out abductions.
In Kogi State, troops of Operation MESA, alongside police and vigilantes, rescued a kidnap victim along the Koton Karfe–Okparake Road and arrested three suspected terrorists.
Security operatives recovered one Dane gun, one motorcycle, three mobile phones and ₦23,000 from the suspects. Authorities reunited the rescued victim with the family.
Meanwhile, in Kebbi State, troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA responded to terrorist activities along the Wasagu-Ayu Road in Wasagu Local Government Area.
The troops engaged the terrorists, forcing them to flee and abandon two motorcycles.
