The Federal Government and the State of Palestine have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and boosting consular cooperation, deepening their long-standing diplomatic ties.
This was contained in a statement issued by the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Ebienfa, following a courtesy visit by the Palestinian Ambassador to Nigeria, Muhannad Halmouri, to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, on Tuesday in Abuja.
According to the statement, the visit was part of ongoing diplomatic engagements aimed at enhancing cooperation and reviewing consular, humanitarian, and regional issues of mutual concern.
Ambassador Halmouri conveyed greetings from the Palestinian leadership and expressed appreciation for Nigeria’s steadfast support for the Palestinian cause.
He also recalled the historic relationship between the two nations, dating back to the era of former Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat, and commended Nigeria’s consistent moral and diplomatic backing at international fora.
Discussions also covered the humanitarian situation in Gaza and other Palestinian territories.
Ambassador Tuggar reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to justice, peaceful coexistence, and respect for international law. Both sides expressed interest in sustained dialogue, deeper cooperation, and the prospect of future high-level engagements.
