The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has deployed 1,803 personnel alongside operational assets across Abuja to ensure a safe and hitch-free Easter celebration.
The deployment, which covers churches and recreational centres across the territory, is part of proactive measures to reinforce existing security arrangements and safeguard residents during the festive period.
According to the Command in a statement on Friday night, the operation will feature enhanced visibility policing, intelligence-led operations, coordinated vehicular and foot patrols, as well as continuous monitoring aimed at the prompt detection and prevention of criminal activities.
In addition, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Units have been directed to conduct routine sweeps of major public and recreational locations to mitigate potential security threats.
The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ahmed Sanusi, felicitated with Christian faithful across the territory and urged residents to embrace the spirit of Easter by promoting peace, unity, and mutual respect.
He also called on residents to remain law-abiding, while encouraging religious leaders to continue preaching messages of tolerance and peaceful coexistence.
The Police Commissioner reassured residents of the Command’s commitment to the protection of lives and property before, during, and after the celebrations, and appealed for sustained cooperation with security agencies.
