The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) has confirmed a single case of COVID-19 in Cross River State, stating that the situation is under control with no sign of wider transmission.
In a statement signed by the Director General NCDC Dr Jude Idris and issued by its Corporate Communications Division, the agency says the infected individual has been isolated and in stable condition, receiving treatment in line with national protocols.
“The single COVID-19 case in Cross River State has been isolated and is stable, receiving care in line with national guidelines,” the NCDC said.
The agency noted that response measures have been activated in partnership with the Cross River State Ministry of Health and other stakeholders, including contact tracing, surveillance, and infection prevention and control.
“All identified contacts are being followed up appropriately, and there is no evidence at this time of widespread transmission,” the statement added.
The NCDC advised residents to maintain basic preventive measures and monitor their health.
“The public is advised to maintain good hygiene, stay home if unwell, and follow updates from official health authorities,” it stated.Ρ
The agency said it will continue to monitor developments and provide updates as necessary, urging the public to rely on verified information from official sources.
