The Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Bishop Stephen Adegbite, has paid a condolence visit to the pioneer Executive Secretary of the Commission, John Opara, following the death of his mother, Christiana Opara.
A statement signed by Celestine Toruka, Director of Media and Public Relations, Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission says Bishop Adegbite visited Prof. Opara at his residence in Garki, Abuja, on Friday to sympathise with him and his family over the loss. Chief Mrs. Opara reportedly passed away on May 6, 2026.
Speaking during the visit, Bishop Adegbite described the deceased matriarch as a fulfilled and successful woman who dedicated her life to the service of God and humanity.
“Mama lived a fulfilled life and will be remembered for her numerous contributions to both the things of God and humanity,” he said.
The NCPC boss further noted that the late Chief Mrs. Opara lived a worthy life, having raised a distinguished son whose impact continues to be felt in global evangelism and national development.
He encouraged Prof. Opara, who is also the Chairman of CSS Global Integrated Farms, to draw strength from the word of God, citing Psalm 116:15, “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His faithful saints.”
Bishop Adegbite conveyed condolences on behalf of his family, the Board, management, and staff of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission.
He was accompanied on the visit by the Director of Administration, Abu Okpanachi; Director of Planning, Research and Programme Development, Nkaiso Edemenang; Director of Operations, Sunday Udeh; and the Head of Protocol and Personal Assistant to the Executive Secretary, Pastor Stephen Adewara.
