Justice Joyce Abdulmalik of the Federal High Court in Abuja has granted bail to former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, in the sum of ₦100 million with one surety in like sum.
The court imposed strict conditions that must be met before the bail can be perfected.
Justice Abdulmalik ruled that the surety must reside in Maitama or Asokoro in Abuja and must deposit the original Certificate of Occupancy of a landed property with the court registry.
The surety is also required to be a federal civil servant not below Grade Level 17 and must present evidence of salary payments for the last three months, verified by a bank letter.
Additional conditions include an affidavit of means, a bail bond, a recent passport photograph, and a verification letter from the surety’s department, along with a six-month tax clearance certificate.
El-Rufai is also required to deposit all international passports with the court.
The court further ordered him to report to the headquarters of the Department of State Services (DSS) every last Friday of the month at 10 a.m. until the case is concluded.
He is also required to provide a letter of attestation from the Chairman of the Kaduna Traditional Council.
The judge warned that failure to comply with any of the bail conditions would lead to its immediate revocation.
The case continues as proceedings progress at the Federal High Court in Abuja.
