The Chairman, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba-Marwa (Rtd), has vowed that those behind the violent attack on two NDLEA officers in Abuja will face justice.

Marwa said the Agency would ensure full investigation and prosecution of those responsible for the mob attack during a drug raid in the Dawaki area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), stressing that assaults on its personnel amount to attacks on the state.

Reports say the officers, Ayegh Zachariah and Shehu Ibrahim, are currently receiving treatment at the National Hospital, Abuja, after sustaining severe injuries during an anti-drug operation on Friday, 15 May 2026.

A statement on Tuesday by the NDLEA spokesperson, Femi Babafemi says the officers were attacked by a mob while conducting a raid on a suspected drug hotspot in the Dawaki area.

Marwa visited the injured officers at the hospital on Monday, 25 May 2026, where he sympathised with them and assured them of the NDLEA’s full support.

He pledged that the agency would take full responsibility for their welfare and ensure they receive the highest standard of medical care until full recovery.

Marwa commended the officers for their courage and professionalism during the operation, describing their conduct as a reflection of commitment in the ongoing fight against drug trafficking and substance abuse.

He also announced official Letters of Commendation for the officers, personally signed by him, alongside additional support packages to aid their recovery.

The NDLEA boss reiterated that the agency remains resolute in its mission to dismantle drug cartels and clean up communities across Nigeria, despite violent resistance from criminal elements.

He also praised the medical team at the National Hospital Abuja for their swift and professional response in stabilising the injured officers.

The incident occurred during a raid on a suspected drug distribution point in Dawaki, Abuja, where the officers were attacked by a mob resisting enforcement action.
