The House of Representatives will convene an emergency sitting on Monday, June 15, 2026, to consider legislation seeking a further extension of the implementation period for the capital component of the 2025 budget.

In a notice issued to all lawmakers, on Sunday night, the Acting Clerk of the House, Ibrahim Sidi, said the emergency session would commence at 11:00 a.m. in accordance with Order Five, Rule 2(2) of the Standing Orders of the House of Representatives.

According to the notice dated June 11, the lawmakers are expected to deliberate on the Appropriation (Repeal and Enactment) Act, 2025 (Amendment) (No. 2) Bill, 2026.

The proposed amendment seeks to extend the implementation timeline for the capital aspect of the 2025 Appropriation Act from June 30 to September 30, 2026.

The extension is aimed at providing additional time for the execution of ongoing capital projects captured in the budget.

The House leadership directed all members to accord the sitting priority attendance, underscoring the importance of the legislation to government spending and project implementation plans.
