Nigeria’s senior men’s cricket team, the Yellow Greens, began their T20I Tri-Series campaign in Windhoek, Namibia, with an eight-wicket defeat to Hong Kong.
After electing to bat first, Nigeria were bowled out for 126 in 19.4 overs. Selim Salau led the scoring with a spirited 41 runs, while Chima Akachukwu added valuable support to help the side post a competitive total.
Hong Kong responded confidently, chasing down the target with ease to finish on 127 for 2 in just 16.2 overs. Anshuman Rath anchored the innings with an unbeaten 72, steering his team to a comfortable victory.
Nigeria’s bowlers managed only two breakthroughs, with Sylvester Okpe and Peter Aho claiming a wicket apiece, but they were unable to slow Hong Kong’s steady pursuit of the target.
The result leaves the Yellow Greens searching for their first win of the tournament as they look to bounce back strongly in their next outing.
