Portugal Run Riot, Ghana Stun England in World Cup Thriller

Portugal produced the standout performance of the latest round of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, dismantling Uzbekistan 5-0 in a dominant Group K display that underlined their title ambitions.

Cristiano Ronaldo stole the headlines with a brace to become the first player to score in six different FIFA World Cups. Nuno Mendes and Rafael Leão also got on the scoresheet, while an own goal completed the emphatic victory.

In Group L, Ghana held England to a hard-fought 0-0 draw, delivering a disciplined defensive performance to earn a valuable point and keep qualification hopes alive.

Croatia claimed a vital 1-0 win over Panama, with Ante Budimir scoring the decisive goal in the 54th minute after meeting a cross from Josip Stanišić. The victory strengthened Croatia’s chances of progressing to the knockout stage.

Elsewhere, Colombia edged DR Congo 1-0 thanks to a clinical finish from Daniel Muñoz, securing another important three points in Group K.

With the group stage entering a decisive phase, Portugal’s attacking brilliance, Ghana’s resilience, and narrow victories for Croatia and Colombia have intensified the race for places in the knockout rounds.
