The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has announced that the 2026/27 season will kick off between August 28 and 30, 2026, as part of a comprehensive calendar aimed at ensuring a smooth and well-organised campaign.
The league said pre-season activities, including club licensing, settlement of outstanding salary obligations, stadium inspections and compliance checks, will begin in June.
The NPFL Annual General Meeting, official fixtures draw and the pre-season Super 4/6 tournament are scheduled to hold in Lagos ahead of the new campaign.
Player registration and licensing will run through July and August, with the first transfer window opening from July 15 to September 14. Clubs are expected to complete player registration by August 22.
The 38-match season will run until May 30, 2027, with the first half concluding after Matchday 19 in December before a mid-season break from December 23 to January 6.
The January transfer window will remain open throughout January 2027.
The calendar also makes provision for the 2027 President Federation Cup, beginning with state playoffs in February before progressing through the national knockout stages.
Looking ahead, the NPFL said the 2027/28 season is provisionally scheduled to begin between August 27 and 29, 2027, as part of efforts to maintain a consistent football calendar.
The league added that the schedule includes orientation programmes for newly promoted clubs and other initiatives aimed at improving operational and professional standards across the competition.
