President Bola Tinubu has commissioned a 10.5-kilometre road network linking Karsana West to the Outer Northern (Murtala Mohammed) Expressway, a move expected to unlock access to the 3,112-unit Renewed Hope Cities and Estates in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Represented by Senate President Godswill Akpabio at the inauguration on Friday, the President said the new road would reduce travel time, ease traffic congestion, lower transportation costs and improve security, making the housing estate more attractive and accessible to thousands of prospective homeowners.
Tinubu described the project as a critical component of the Renewed Hope Agenda, noting that quality infrastructure is essential to delivering affordable housing and stimulating economic activities in the district.
He commended FCT Minister Nyesom Wike for completing the project on schedule, saying the rapid transformation across Abuja demonstrates the administration’s resolve to deliver infrastructure that directly improves the lives of Nigerians.
Speaking in his personal capacity, Akpabio said the scale of infrastructure development in the FCT under the current administration was unprecedented, adding that communities beyond the city centre were now benefiting from governance. He also revealed that 13 more projects are scheduled for completion and inauguration in the FCT before January 2027.
Wike recalled that Karsana District lacked a motorable access road when the Renewed Hope housing project was launched in 2024, slowing development in the area. He said the completion of the road had transformed the district and announced that construction of the Kagini–Zauda–Kaba Road in the Dei-Dei axis will commence on July 8 as part of the administration’s continued infrastructure expansion.
Acting Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), Richard Dauda, said the project comprises four major roads covering 10.5 kilometres and is equipped with solar-powered streetlights.
According to him, the new road network will significantly improve connectivity, shorten travel time, enhance security and create a more attractive environment for residents, businesses and investors in the fast-growing Karsana District.
