Nigeria’s Oluwaseun Peter Ogunsakin has continued his remarkable run at the 2026 Wimbledon Junior Championships, reaching the boys’ doubles semi-finals to move within one victory of a place in the title match.
The 17-year-old, who is partnering Botswana’s Ntungamili Raguin, produced another composed performance as the African duo defeated the sixth-seeded pair of France’s Yanick Theodore Alexandrescou and Japan’s Ryo Tabata 6-4, 7-6 in the quarter-finals.
The victory followed an impressive campaign in which they stunned the tournament’s third seeds in the opening round before overcoming American duo Safir Azam and Vihaan Reddy to book their place in the last eight.
Although Ogunsakin’s historic Wimbledon singles campaign ended earlier in the tournament, the Nigerian teenager left a lasting impression after becoming the first Nigerian in 36 years to feature in the boys’ singles main draw at the All England Club.
He pushed Britain’s Oliver Page to three sets before narrowly bowing out in a fiercely contested first-round encounter, earning widespread praise for his performance and determination. Page has since gone on to reach the third round, underlining the quality of the opposition Ogunsakin faced.
Now, all eyes are on the doubles semi-final, where Ogunsakin and Raguin will face Australia’s Cruz Hewitt and the Netherlands’ Thijs Boogaard for a place in the Wimbledon boys’ doubles final.
A victory would mark another milestone for Nigerian tennis and further cement Ogunsakin’s status as one of the country’s brightest young talents on the international stage.
