The Director-General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Lanre Issa-Onilu, has reaffirmed his commitment to improving staff welfare, strengthening capacity building, and driving institutional reforms to enhance service delivery across the Agency.
Speaking during a staff engagement meeting at the Agency’s headquarters in Abuja, Issa-Onilu said investing in employees’ welfare, training, and professional development remains central to achieving the NOA’s mandate of promoting national values, civic responsibility, and patriotism.
He commended the management and staff for their dedication over the past two years, noting that their support has helped reposition the Agency into a more visible, coordinated, and impactful institution.
Highlighting key achievements, the Director-General revealed that the National Values Charter television commercial was broadcast during the English Premier League and UEFA Champions League, expanding the reach of its messages on patriotism and responsible citizenship to millions of viewers in Nigeria and beyond.
Issa-Onilu also disclosed that the Agency has introduced Computer-Based Tests (CBT) for promotion examinations to ensure a transparent, merit-based, and credible advancement process for staff.
He added that the proposed amendment to the National Orientation Agency Act has passed first reading in both the Senate and the House of Representatives.
He further announced plans to deepen partnerships with leading organisations and corporate brands to strengthen national orientation, civic education, and citizen engagement programmes.
Speaking at the meeting, Director of Human Resource Management, Ayisola Olowoyo, praised the management for sustaining regular staff engagement sessions, describing them as a valuable platform for dialogue, collaboration, and institutional growth.
Representatives of the staff unions also commended the Director-General’s leadership while calling for greater support for bereaved families of staff and retirees, as well as sustained unity among employees to advance the Agency’s transformation agenda.
The meeting, attended by directors and staff from the headquarters, reinforced management’s commitment to open communication, staff development, institutional reforms, and improved service delivery, with Issa-Onilu stressing that a skilled, motivated, and professional workforce remains the foundation for achieving the Agency’s national orientation objectives.
