The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has apologised to aggrieved party members over perceived wrongs committed during the party’s internal processes.
Yilwatda spoke on Thursday in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, during the inauguration of the APC campaign office and campaign council.
The inauguration followed meetings with party leaders and aggrieved members aimed at promoting reconciliation, peace and unity ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The APC chairman said the National Working Committee (NWC) takes responsibility for mistakes made during internal processes, noting that committees conducting such exercises were constituted by the national leadership.
“If anybody is hurt, if anybody is injured, if anybody is prevented or excluded in any form or the other, we take responsibility,” Yilwatda said.
He appealed to affected members to forgive the party and remain united, describing disagreements within the party as an internal family matter.
Yilwatda also urged APC members at the polling unit, ward and local government levels to work together ahead of the 2027 elections.
He said the party was taking Oyo State seriously because of its strategic importance and large voting population, which he described as second only to Lagos.
The APC governorship candidate in Oyo State, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, commended Yilwatda for responding to concerns raised by party stakeholders.
Alli said the national chairman had fulfilled commitments made during his engagement with governorship aspirants and other stakeholders in the state.
He assured the APC national leadership of the party’s commitment to strengthening its structure and working towards victory in the 2027 elections.
