Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, and his deputy, Benjamin Kalu, have congratulated the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’adu Abubakar III, on his 70th birthday.
In separate statements issued on Tuesday, the lawmakers praises the monarch for his lifelong commitment to peace, national unity and religious tolerance.
Speaker Abbas described the Sultan as a symbol of patriotism who has consistently spoken truth to power.
He also commended the President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, NSCIA, for promoting stability and offering wise counsel to political leaders across Nigeria’s diverse religious and ethnic communities.
Deputy Speaker Kalu highlighted the Sultan’s transition from a distinguished military career to the throne in 2006.He described the septuagenarian as a father figure and a stabilising voice whose reign promotes wisdom, humility and interfaith dialogue.
Both leaders prayed for the Sultan’s continued good health, divine guidance and lasting peace in the Sokoto Caliphate and across Nigeria.
