The Nigeria Police Force and the Nigerian Air Force are strengthening joint security planning ahead of the 2027 general elections and other major national events.
Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, and the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal S.K. Aneke, discussed the plan on Wednesday during Aneke’s visit to the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
The meeting focused on improving coordination between the two security agencies as they respond to terrorism, banditry, insurgency and other violent crimes.
According to the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, the two sides discussed aerial surveillance, reconnaissance, tactical deployment, intelligence sharing, medical evacuation and joint training.
Disu stressed the need for coordinated security planning, particularly for major national events and the 2027 general elections.
The IGP also called for stronger protection of critical national infrastructure, improved logistics and faster response capabilities.
He reaffirmed the Police Force’s commitment to joint training, capacity building and intelligence-led operations with the Nigerian Air Force.
Meanwhile, Aneke, commended the longstanding professional relationship between the two institutions and acknowledged the support of the NPF Air Wing to the Nigerian Air Force.
He called for sustained cooperation in joint operations, intelligence sharing and enhanced air support for Police operations.
The two agencies also agreed on the need to regularly review joint operations to improve their effectiveness.
The engagement underscores efforts by Nigeria’s security agencies to build a more coordinated response to emerging security threats and strengthen the protection of lives, property and critical national assets.
