President Bola Tinubu has urged Nigerians not to lose hope in the country, saying Nigeria is on the right path towards recovery, peace and sustainable development.
The President delivered the message through the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, who represented him at a special prayer session marking Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary at the National Mosque in Abuja on Friday.
Tajudeen said the country’s 66 years of nationhood should be viewed as a period of growth and maturity despite the challenges, setbacks and missed opportunities recorded since independence.
He said Nigeria had endured difficult periods but had also made significant progress, urging citizens to remain hopeful about the country’s future.

“I want to categorically make it clear that Nigeria is on the right path. There is light at the end of the tunnel. Nigeria has finished making sacrifices for this country to be great again,” Tajudeen quoted the President as saying.
He also urged Nigerians to remain committed to the country’s progress, saying peace and development would return through sustained efforts and collective commitment.
“My message to the country on behalf of Mr President, the Senate President and all members of the National Assembly, is that people should not lose hope,” he said.
“Peace is coming back to this country, development is coming back to this country. Things will get better as we progress in this democracy.”

The Speaker urged Nigerians to pay attention to the policies and programmes of the Tinubu administration, saying the government’s reforms required time and sustained commitment to deliver results.
He said the National Assembly would continue to support measures aimed at strengthening democracy, improving security, promoting economic development and enhancing citizens’ welfare.
Tajudeen also called for greater national unity, stressing that building a better Nigeria was a collective responsibility involving both government and citizens.
The prayer session was attended by dignitaries and Muslim faithful who prayed for peace, stability and continued development in Nigeria.
