FG Launches Digital Platform to Boost Tourism, Creative Industries

By Zainab Bakare

The Federal Government has launched a digital platform to attract investment into Nigeria’s tourism and creative industries, targeting a $100bn contribution to the economy and more than three million jobs by 2030.

The Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa, announced this on Tuesday in Abuja during the launch of the D30 Platform, also known as Destination 2030.

Musawa said the platform would address the shortage of reliable data on the country’s tourism and creative sectors, which she identified as a major barrier to investment.

She explained that D30 would provide investors, businesses and government agencies with information on tourism destinations, infrastructure gaps, creative professionals and investment opportunities.

According to the minister, the platform would also support government planning and help entrepreneurs identify viable projects, expand their businesses and create jobs.

Musawa said Nigeria’s music, film, fashion, visual arts and cultural heritage had significant economic potential. She added that stronger links between tourism and the creative economy could generate revenue and support local businesses.

The ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Abdulkarim Ozi, described the platform as an important step towards unlocking the economic potential of Nigeria’s cultural and creative assets.

Also speaking at the launch, Cavista Holdings Executive Director and Vice President of Government and External Affairs, Olumide Olayomi, said the company provided funding and technical expertise for the platform through its subsidiary, Cavista Technologies, in partnership with the ministry.

Olayomi said the platform would help investors identify opportunities, assess infrastructure needs and make informed business decisions.

The government’s 2030 targets will require sustained investment, reliable data, improved infrastructure and collaboration between public institutions and private-sector operators.
