Abuja Transitway Commissioning: Tinubu Pledges Nationwide Infrastructure Expansion

By Sofiat Adenekan-Abdul

President Bola Tinubu has pledged to replicate the pace of infrastructure development currently underway in the Federal Capital Territory across the country, saying every region will benefit from improved roads, bridges, rail lines and other critical public infrastructure under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Speaking on Tuesday during the inauguration of the newly completed Transitway N2 linking Abuja’s Central Business District with Wuse District, the President said the project represents the standard of development his administration intends to deliver nationwide to improve connectivity, stimulate economic growth and enhance the quality of life for Nigerians.

Represented by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Tinubu said the Federal Government remains committed to ensuring that no part of the country is left behind in the delivery of infrastructure that supports national development.

He described the Transitway as a major milestone in the implementation of the Abuja Master Plan, noting that it will ease traffic congestion, reduce travel time between the Central Area and Wuse District, improve urban mobility and create new opportunities for businesses.

The President also commended the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, for accelerating infrastructure delivery in Abuja, saying the ongoing transformation of the nation’s capital reflects the administration’s commitment to completing projects that directly benefit citizens.

In his remarks, Wike described the Transitway as a strategic transport corridor that will improve movement within the capital and disclosed that the rapid execution of projects in the FCT has been made possible by President Tinubu’s decision to remove the FCT Administration from the Treasury Single Account (TSA), giving it greater financial flexibility to fund infrastructure.

He added that the administration would continue expanding road networks across the territory and announced that a comprehensive report of President Tinubu’s achievements in the FCT over the past three years would be presented at the conclusion of the ongoing project inauguration programme.
