El-Rufai Faces Crucial Bail Hearing in ₦579.6m, $1.1m Fraud Case

Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai is set to appear before the Federal High Court in Kaduna on April 14 for a crucial bail hearing in a separate corruption case.

The former governor is facing a 10-count charge bordering on alleged abuse of office, money laundering, and fraud involving a total sum of ₦579.6 million and 1.1 million dollars.

The bail hearing is expected to attract significant public and legal attention, coming amid ongoing proceedings at the Kaduna State High Court, where El-Rufai is also standing trial in a case filed by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).

In that case, he is being tried alongside Amadu Sule over allegations including abuse of office, fraud, intent to commit fraud, and conferring undue advantage.

El-Rufai appeared in court on Monday under tight security as the trial resumed, drawing a crowd of supporters, observers, and members of the public.

Despite the legal battles, the former governor appears to remain politically active, as he was seen discussing preparations for the upcoming African Democratic Congress convention ahead of the court session.

With multiple charges across different courts, attention is now firmly on Tuesday’s bail hearing, which could shape the direction of the high-profile cases against him.
