The Nigeria Police Force, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, has ordered a comprehensive mental and psychological assessment of its personnel as part of efforts to enforce discipline and curb misconduct.
The directive was issued by the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, Ahmed Sanusi, during an emergency meeting with Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and Heads of Tactical Units in Abuja.
Accordong to a statement on Thursday by the command spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, the meeting, the CP stressed the need for the highest standards of proftf,fessionalism, warning officers against any form of misconduct capable of bringing the Force into disrepute.
He also reiterated strict compliance with human rights laws in the discharge of policing duties.
Sanusi directed all senior officers to immediately brief tttttt4heir subordinates on the new directives and submit compliance reports to the Command Headquarters, in line with the mandate of the Inspector-General of Police.
He further warned that senior officers would be held accountable for the actions of their subordinates, stressing that misconduct at any level would attract consequences.
As part of the new measures, the CP directed the Command’s Medical Director, ACP (Dr.) Ifayase Olabanji Akinola, alongside the Police Counseling Unit, to commence a phased psychological evaluation of personnel, beginning with junior officers on May 4, 2026.
According to the Command, the exercise is aimed at improving officers’ emotional stability, decision-making, and overall performance on duty.
The FCT Police Command also urged residents to remain law-abiding and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through its emergency lines
