The Federal Government has confirmed the return of 83 Nigerians from South Africa, following their arrival at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.
The returnees arrived aboard a South African Airways flight from Johannesburg, accompanied by two officials from the Nigerian Consulate-General.
A statement by the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Ebienfa, says the returnees were received by the director African Affairs Department, Ambassador Haruna Ali-Gombe
on behalf of the Federal Government before handing them over to relevant government agencies for documentation and profiling.
According to the statement, the agencies will facilitate their reunification with their families after completing the necessary documentation.
The ministry revealed that private individuals funded the returnees’ flight tickets and commended them for supporting their safe return.
