The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has responded to several fire outbreaks and road incidents across Lagos, with no casualties recorded.
The incidents occurred between Sunday, August 10, and the early hours of Monday, August 11, 2026.
In a statement signed by LASEMA Permanent Secretary, Dr Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, the agency said its response followed Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s directive to protect lives and property.
At about 7:37pm on Sunday, LASEMA deployed its Dolphin Team to a fire outbreak at 23 Shaba Ojo Street, Omolade, Igando.
The team, working with the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, contained the fire and prevented it from spreading to other flats in the building.
At about 8:05pm, LASEMA also responded to a multiple-vehicle accident on Otedola Bridge, inward Lagos.
The accident involved a 20-foot container truck, an axle-laden truck, a 45,000-litre PMS tanker and a Toyota Camry.
Preliminary findings showed that the axle truck collided with the broken-down container truck before the tanker subsequently rammed into it.
LASEMA, in collaboration with the Federal Road Safety Corps, Nigeria Police Force, LASTMA and the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, secured the scene and managed traffic to prevent further accidents.
The agency used its tow truck and private recovery vehicles to clear the damaged vehicles from the road.
LASEMA said the roadway was subsequently cleared and reopened to traffic.
At about 11:30pm, the agency’s Tiger Squad responded to a fire at Anifowoshe, Ikeja, where a two-bedroom flat was affected.
The team and the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service immediately began firefighting operations.
According to LASEMA, the fire was confined to one bedroom and completely extinguished. No casualty was recorded.
The agency also responded to a broken-down truck that threatened to cause a major traffic disruption inward Idi-Oro, Mushin, at about 2:10am on Monday.
The Renault truck, which was loaded with clothes, developed a mechanical gear fault and blocked the entire carriageway.
LASEMA deployed its team to control traffic while awaiting its heavy-duty recovery vehicle, Super Metro.
The equipment successfully evacuated the truck to a nearby lay-by, allowing the agency to reopen the road.
No casualty was recorded in the incident.
Oke-Osanyintolu commended the emergency responders for their swift and professional response.
The Lagos State Government also urged residents to prioritise safety by avoiding electrical overloading, maintaining their vehicles properly and reporting emergencies promptly.
