Navy Dismisses Rating Over Disobedience, AWOL

By Sofiat Adenekan-Abdul

The Nigerian Navy has dismissed a rating, SMMEA UMA TU E5618, following confirmed violations of military regulations bordering on disobedience to lawful orders and absence without official leave (AWOL).

In a statement released on its official platform, the Navy disclose that the personnel was found culpable after due disciplinary procedures were carried out in line with the Armed Forces Act. The offences, it noted, undermine the core values of discipline and professionalism expected within the service.

“The rating is found culpable of disobedience to particular orders and absence without official leave,” the statement read, reaffirming the outcome of the internal investigation.

The Navy further clarified that the dismissed individual is no longer a member of the service, warning members of the public against engaging with him as a serving officer.

“This action underscores our zero-tolerance stance on indiscipline and reinforces our commitment to accountability and operational efficiency,” the statement added.

The development highlights the Navy’s continued emphasis on strict adherence to military rules as it works to maintain high professional standards across its ranks.
