The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dunoma Ahmed, has arrived in New Delhi, India, to represent the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, at the ongoing BRICS Foreign Ministers’ Meeting.
The meeting is scheduled to take place May 14 and 15, 2026, at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, bringing together top diplomats from BRICS member states to deliberate on pressing global issues.
According to a statement signed by the ministry’s spokesperson Kimiebi Ebienfa key areas of discussion include strengthening economic cooperation, advancing reforms in global governance, and addressing regional conflicts with implications for international peace and security.
The session is being chaired by India’s External Affairs Minister, S. Jaishankar, as part of broader preparations for the 18th BRICS Summit expected to hold later this year.
Nigeria’s participation at the meeting reflects its commitment to multilateral engagement and its strategic interest in fostering deeper collaboration with emerging economies within the BRICS framework.
