The Director-General of the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS), Abubakar O. Suleiman, has extended warm felicitations to Nigerian workers in celebration of Workers’ Day, commending their resilience and vital contributions to national development.

In a goodwill message marking the annual celebration, Suleiman praised the dedication and patriotism of workers across various sectors, noting that their efforts continue to drive Nigeria’s socio-economic progress despite prevailing challenges.

“I salute and congratulate patriotic Nigerian workers and say Happy Labour Day, especially to the unsung heroes whose strengths have remarkably impacted on national socio-economic growth,” he said.

The NILDS boss highlighted the often-overlooked role of workers whose daily contributions form the backbone of governance, public service delivery, and economic stability. He stressed that their commitment remains indispensable to the country’s advancement.

Suleiman further reaffirmed the institute’s support for policies and initiatives that strengthen democratic governance and improve the welfare and capacity of the workforce, in line with NILDS’ mandate under the National Assembly.

Workers’ Day, celebrated annually on May 1, provides an opportunity to recognise the contributions of workers and reflect on labour rights, welfare, and productivity—issues Suleiman says must remain central to Nigeria’s development agenda.
