The Managing Director and Chief Executive of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF), Oluwaseun Faleye, has called for stronger inter-agency collaboration to improve workers’ welfare, strengthen social security and enhance national productivity.
Faleye made the call on Thursday in Abuja while delivering a goodwill message at a technical retreat on Presidential Priorities, Ministerial Deliverables and the Performance Management System (PMS), organised by the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment.
Represented by his Technical Assistant, Dayo Aloa, the NSITF boss said effective public service delivery required institutions to coordinate programmes, share knowledge and work together to address common challenges.
He commended the ministry for organising the retreat, describing it as an important platform for dialogue, collaboration and knowledge exchange among agencies with shared responsibilities.
Faleye noted that the ministry and the NSITF had a common obligation to strengthen public institutions, deliver value to Nigerians and improve workers’ welfare and security.
Explaining the Fund’s mandate, he said the NSITF administers the Employees’ Compensation Scheme (ECS), established under the Employees’ Compensation Act 2010, to provide compensation and support to workers and their dependants affected by work-related injuries, occupational diseases, disabilities or death.
“No worker or family should be left without support when a qualifying workplace incident disrupts their livelihood and future,” Faleye said.
He stressed that workers’ welfare was directly linked to productivity, industrial harmony and sustainable economic development, adding that employees who feel protected are better positioned to contribute meaningfully to their organisations.
Looking ahead to 2027, Faleye reaffirmed the Fund’s commitment to improving the implementation of the Employees’ Compensation Scheme, enhancing service delivery, strengthening employer compliance and promoting workplace safety.
