Prominent elders and community leaders in Ogbomoso have publicly distanced the town from Adeniyi Adeyemi the man facing prosecution over an alleged fake presidential agency scandal, insisting he is neither a recognised prince nor a representative of the community.
The position was contained in a statement issued after an emergency meeting of the Ogbomoso Integrity Forum, and jointly signed by Alao Adeyinka and Olatubosun Adeniyi.
The forum described Adeyemi’s alleged actions as a serious dent on Ogbomoso’s reputation and urged security agencies to ensure that justice takes its course if the allegations against him are proven.
Authorities accuse Adeyemi of forging official documents and falsely presenting himself as the Director-General of the non-existent Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) and the Presidential Economic Advisory Council.
According to investigators, he allegedly operated from an office within Abuja’s Federal Secretariat for over a year, during which he reportedly received diplomats and other dignitaries while securing budgetary allocations running into billions of naira for the fictitious agencies.
Adeyemi was arrested by the police in October 2025 and is currently facing charges bordering on forgery, impersonation and conspiracy.
Rejecting any association with the suspect, the Ogbomoso Integrity Forum stressed that Adeyemi has never been recognised as a prince in any of the town’s ruling houses.
“We, the elders and custodians of Ogbomoso’s rich cultural heritage, unequivocally disown Adeniyi Adeyemi in this shameful fake agency scandal that has brought unnecessary scrutiny to our peaceful community,” the statement read.
It added that, “For far too long, individuals have hidden behind unverified titles to perpetrate deceit. We declare that he is not, and has never been, a recognised prince in any of the ruling houses of Ogbomoso.”
The forum reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the integrity of the Ogbomoso traditional institution and urged the public not to associate the community with the allegations against Adeyemi, while allowing the judicial process to run its course.
