The Senate through its Committee on Army commends the Nigerian Army, Air Force, and other security agencies for the successful rescue of Amina Abubakar, widow of the late Maj Gen Rabe Abubakar, during Operation Fansan Yamma in Katsina State.
The Committee describes the operation as proof of renewed professionalism and joint resolve to degrade banditry and terrorism in the North-West.
In a statement signed by its Chairman , Senator Abdulaziz Yaradua on Tuesday extends condolences to the family of the late Maj Gen Abubakar and pray for the wife’s quick recovery as she receives treatment.
According to Yaradua the success should spur the country to sustain the onslaught against terrorists, kidnappers, and all criminal elements threatening her peace.
He said:”National security is a collective responsibility and added that the Committee urges citizens to remain vigilant, monitor their environments, and share credible intelligence with the police, local vigilante groups, and security agencies”
“Timely information saves lives and enhances operational success” he said
The Committee reaffirmed its commitment to legislative oversight and adequate funding to ensure the Nigerian Army maintains momentum until terrorism and kidnapping are eradicated.
