Tinubu said infrastructure projects like OSEX are central to boosting economic activity, reducing transport costs, improving mobility, and expanding access to markets.

He stressed that government projects go beyond physical construction, describing them as investments in the country’s future and economic foundation.

According to him, the OSEX project was executed in phases, with earlier sections already completed, while the newly opened carriageways are expected to ease traffic flow and open up new development corridors in the Federal Capital Territory.

The President also reiterated his administration’s commitment to completing inherited projects rather than abandoning them, insisting that public funds must be used efficiently for maximum impact.

He commended the Federal Capital Territory Administration for its role in delivering critical infrastructure projects within Abuja.

Earlier, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, said the OSEX project was completed within the agreed timeline by the contractor, China Geo-Engineering Corporation (CGC).

Wike explained that the administration deliberately prioritised inherited projects to ensure continuity in governance and avoid wastage of public resources.

He disclosed that over 80 per cent of the projects completed by the FCT Administration since 2023 were inherited from previous governments.

The minister also noted that mechanics previously operating along the Apo corridor had been relocated to a designated site equipped with basic infrastructure such as roads and water supply.

He added that ongoing road projects in satellite towns including Kuje and Gwagwalada are part of efforts to promote balanced development across the FCT.

Wike commended the contractor for timely delivery of the OSEX project and expressed confidence that the road would significantly reduce traffic congestion and improve urban mobility in Abuja.
