President Bola Tinubu has approved a significant cabinet reshuffle, removing the Minister of Finance, Wale Edun, and the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, in a move aimed at strengthening economic coordination and governance delivery.
According to a statement from the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, the changes take immediate effect, with all handover processes directed to be completed on or before April 23, 2026.
A statement signed by Yomi Odunuga SA to the SGF says, Taiwo Oyedele has been appointed to take over as Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy.
He previously served as Minister of State in the ministry and is expected to steer ongoing fiscal reforms and economic coordination efforts.
For the Housing and Urban Development Ministry, Muttaqha Rabe Darma has been named minister-designate, pending Senate confirmation. Until then, the outgoing minister is expected to oversee a smooth transition.
The Presidency said the reshuffle is part of efforts to improve synergy across key ministries and enhance service delivery to Nigerians.
It also confirmed that further adjustments to the cabinet remain possible as part of broader governance reforms.
President Bola Tinubu, through the SGF, thanked the outgoing ministers for their service and wished them well in their future engagements.
