Castmog Ladies Relegated as NWFL Confirms Revised Premiership Fixtures

The Nigeria Women’s Football League NWFL Secretariat, has officially relegated Castmog Ladies from the 2025/2026 Premiership after the club failed to meet mandatory licensing and registration requirements for the new season.

The announcement was made on Monday in Abuja, by NWFL Media Director Samuel Ahmadu. While three clubs received pre-season warnings, only Castmog Ladies based in Abeokuta failed to comply with the compulsory conditions by the final deadline.

NWFL Chief Operating Officer, Modupe Shabi, stressed that the league maintains zero tolerance for administrative non-compliance.

“We have a responsibility to protect the integrity of the league, and compliance with registration and licensing requirements is a non-negotiable part of that process,” she said

With Castmog Ladies now dropped from the topflight, the 2025/2026 Premiership will continue with 19 teams.

Clubs originally scheduled to play against Castmog including; Rivers Angels on the opening day will automatically have a bye on those matchdays.

Shabi confirmed that an updated schedule and revised operational details will be issued to all clubs ahead of the season kick-off on Wednesday, November 26, 2025.

“Our focus is to ensure the season proceeds smoothly. Updated fixtures and communication will be issued to all clubs, and we remain committed to transparency and professionalism at every stage,” she added.

The new season promises intense competition as teams across both groups vie for supremacy amid significant administrative and structural adjustments in the league.
