Former Super Eagles defender and Anambra State FA Chairman Chikelue Iloenyosi has rallied support for Nwankwo Kanu, insisting the Enyimba chairman should not be blamed for the club’s recent poor results.

Speaking on Enyimba’s struggles, Iloenyosi stressed that Kanu’s role is administrative, not technical.

“Kanu is not the coach or technical director. His job is to move Enyimba forward administratively,” he said.

Iloenyosi attributed the club’s inconsistent performances to recruitment issues rather than leadership failure, noting that the team “did not get the right players,” which has affected results, including at home.

He also referenced the exit of former Sporting Director Ifeanyi Ekwueme, saying he was wrongly blamed for the club’s problems and asked to resign in the interest of peace—only for deeper issues to remain.

Calling for experience, Iloenyosi urged Enyimba stakeholders to consult former officials Felix Anyasi-Agwu and Jude Anyadufu, describing them as experts who understand the club and Nigerian league football.

“Their experience is needed. They know Enyimba inside out,” he said.

Iloenyosi also appealed to the Abia State Sports Commission and other stakeholders to fully support Kanu.

“When Kanu succeeds, Abia State succeeds. Enyimba is the pride of Abia,” he added.

He concluded by urging unity and stability over blame, insisting that consultation, proper recruitment, and collective support are key to restoring Enyimba F.C. to winning ways.
