The Nigeria Women Football League has handed two-match suspensions to Teslimot Balogun of Pacesetter Queens and Busari Suliyat of Ekiti Queens following a post-match altercation after their Matchday 15 fixture in Ado Ekiti.
The decision was announced in a statement signed by the league’s Media Director, Samuel Ahmadu on Thursday April 16, 2026.
The incident occurred at the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium after Ekiti Queens’ 2-0 victory, when both players were involved in a confrontation that escalated into violent conduct.
According to the league, disciplinary action followed a review of the referee’s report, the match commissioner’s findings and video evidence, which confirmed that the players’ actions brought the game into disrepute.
The suspensions will take effect from Matchday 16.
Chief Operating Officer of the NWFL, Modupe Shabi, reaffirmed the league’s zero-tolerance stance on violence, warning that stricter sanctions, including indefinite bans, could be imposed on players or officials found guilty of similar misconduct.
The action highlights the league’s efforts to uphold discipline, professionalism and the integrity of the competition.
