Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has dismissed reports of an alliance between the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), insisting that the opposition party has no coalition arrangement with any political platform.
Wike spoke on Thursday while inspecting ongoing infrastructure projects in Abuja, where he described claims of a PDP-APM alliance as misleading and politically motivated.
The Oyo state governor, had in a gathering of members of the APM and a faction of the PDP in Ibadan, Oyo state declared his intention to contest for President in 2027.
However, Wike insists that the alliance exists only in the imagination of the Oyo State Governor, whom he accused of pursuing personal political interests ahead of the 2027 elections.
“There’s no alliance between PDP and APM. It is an imagination of Seyi Makinde,” Wike said.
He maintained that the PDP would present its own candidates in future elections and challenged political observers to verify the party’s official submissions to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
“What you have is Seyi Makinde joining APM to actualise his presidential ambition,” the minister added.
Wike also declined to comment on internal issues within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), particularly questions surrounding the political position of the Rivers State governor.
“I am not in APC. Ask me about PDP, I will answer you,” he said.
The former Rivers State governor noted that internal disagreements are common in political parties and should be resolved within party structures.
