The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, has been returned unopposed as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Zaria Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections.The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, has been returned unopposed as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Zaria Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The affirmation exercise, held across the 13 electoral wards of the constituency, saw APC members unanimously endorse the Speaker as the party’s flagbearer following a harmonised primary process conducted simultaneously on Saturday.
The wards include Kwarbai A, Kwarbai B, Limancin-Kona, Unguwar Fatika, Unguwar Juma, Dutsen Abba, Gyallesu, Kufena, Dambo, Wuchichiri, Tudun Wada, Tukur-Tukur, and Kaura.
At the collation centre, the APC Returning Officer for the constituency, Dr. Hamisu Kubau, announced that a total of 1,376 party members across the wards participated in the affirmation, confirming Abbas as the sole aspirant who purchased, screened, and cleared nomination forms.
He declared the Speaker the APC flagbearer after a peaceful exercise monitored by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials and party stakeholders.
Speaking after his emergence, Speaker Abbas thanked APC members for their support and reaffirmed his commitment to effective representation.
“My best days as your representative are ahead. I will continue to work assiduously to justify the confidence reposed in me,” he said.
He also urged constituents to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Uba Sani, and all APC candidates in the 2027 elections.
The APC primary election committee chairman in Kaduna State, Senator Yakubu Oseni, described the Speaker as a “listening leader” and expressed confidence in his chances at the polls.
