The Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) has reaffirmed its commitment to talent development and stronger industry–academia collaboration through its Executive Industry Immersion Challenge (EIIC) programme, in partnership with Nile Business School, Nile University of Nigeria, Abuja.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the four-day programme at the NDIC Head Office in Abuja, Managing Director of the Corporation, Thompson Sunday, said the initiative is aimed at addressing the widening gap between academic training and real-world business practice.

He noted that the rapidly changing global work environment requires professionals with both theoretical knowledge and practical exposure to corporate and public sector realities.

A statement on Thursday by the NDIC Head of Communication, Hawwau Gambo says the programme offers participants hands-on experience in policy formulation, institutional governance, and public sector management.

The NDIC boss reaffirmed the Corporation’s role as a financial safety-net institution committed to promoting financial system stability and strengthening depositor confidence.

He urged participants, drawn from the executive MBA programme of the university, to uphold ethical conduct, transparency, and good governance as key leadership values.

According to him, public confidence in institutions depends on consistent demonstration of integrity and accountability.

The Project Coordinator of the programme, Ibrahim Aliyu, Director of Research, Policy & International Relations, said the EIIC was designed as an experiential learning platform to bridge theory and industry practice.

The Dean of Nile Business School, Prof. Hauwa Lamido, represented by Festus Ekechi, said the selection of NDIC for the programme reflects its strong corporate governance and professionalism in Nigeria’s financial sector.

He added that the school would integrate lessons from the programme into its curriculum to enhance practical learning outcomes for students.
