The Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Saliu Danladi (SYD), has emerged as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 election in Kwara State.

Chairman of the Kwara State governorship primary committee and returning officer, Sen. Musiliu Obanikoro, announced the result on Friday following the conclusion of the party’s statewide primary election.

According to Obanikoro, Danladi secured 94,990 votes to defeat other contenders in the race. Ambassador Yahaya Seriki came second with 41,500 votes, while Bashiru Omolaja Bolarinwa polled 22,118 votes.

Other aspirants recorded lower figures, with Raheem Oloriegbe scoring 3,910 votes, Muhammad Bio securing 1,122 votes, Muhammad Belgore polling 3,411 votes, and Toyin Alabi receiving 1,099 votes.

Obanikoro urged all aspirants to accept the outcome of the exercise in the spirit of sportsmanship and remain committed to the unity and progress of the APC ahead of the 2027 general election.

“We appreciate the toughness, loyalty, and confidence of party members for trooping out en masse for today’s primary. By doing so, you have shown the world that you are ready to win the 2027 governorship and other elections,” he said.

The returning officer also explained that the primary election, initially scheduled for Thursday, was shifted due to logistical reasons, while commending party members for their patience and continued support.

Earlier in his welcome address at the State Banquet Hall, the APC Chairman in Kwara State, Prince Sunday Fagbemi, expressed satisfaction over the peaceful conduct of the exercise despite earlier concerns.

“Elsewhere, the situation could have led to chaos, but in our own case, God saw us through,” Fagbemi stated.
